Biography

Having spent most of her life as a classical pianist, Rebecca Hsiao utilizes her strong foundational training and ambition to explore a variety of musical avenues, including musical theater, ballet accompaniment, and more!

 

Recently, Rebecca played in Musical Theatre productions such as 9 to 5, Drowsy Chaperone, HSM the Musical and Legally Blonde. At MSM, she worked with renowned music director James Dodgson on a reading of Frozen as associate music director and Newsies as a rehearsal pianist. She is currently a ballet pianist for the Misty Copeland BE BOLD program and Steps on Broadway Academy.

 

Rebecca has won several competitions, such as the Joseph Israel Bookstaber Memorial Competition, National League International Young Artist Competition, and many more. She was named student of the month at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in February 2021. Rebecca has extensive experience as a piano accompanist, supporting winners of various competitions and performing multiple times at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall since 2016.

 

Currently a junior at the Manhattan School of Music for a classical piano performance degree, Rebecca studies under Professor Daniel Epstein. With fourteen years of piano training, including thirteen with Dr. Florence Liu, she has participated in master classes with renowned pianists like Victor Rosenbaum and Joseph Kalichstein.
